Barking Dog Behavior

by on December 28, 2008

Obviously all dog bark, but for what reason many people don’t know. Most dogs bark because they are hungry, lonely, bored, need to go to the bathroom, or they are sensing a threat from another animal. But you find that it is for none of these reasons and your dog is just barking at you or someone in your family that they are around all of the time, then its time that you fix the problem.

An easy way to make your dog stop barking is to just ignore him or her. If you realize that most of the time your dog barks you pay a lot of attention to them trying to get them to stop barking, this is many what your dog wants. Try ignoring your dog and see if he or she stops, if this happens then start to pay your dog some attention. After doing this see for a few weeks your dog may stop barking at you. Try this with all of the members of the house hold.

Another step to get your dog to stop barking is by physical action. If you dog is barking at you then simply don’t tell your dog to stop barking, there’s a good chance that you dog doesn’t know what you’re asking. What you need to do is to approach your dog and lightly put your hand somewhere around its nose, and then tell him or her to stop. This physically touch can go along way in letting you dog know what your asking it.

Two other reasons a dog will bark is because of loneliness and lack of exercise. Both of these problems can be solved together. On average most dog need about 45 minutes of exercise a day. You can give you dog the attention it needs all while giving it the exercise it needs. Stopping your dog from barking can be easy if you know what you’re doing. Find a program that you can follow easily and you dog will be behaving the way you want in no time.
