Just as a person needs some form of stimulation to keep from getting bored, your dog will also need to be kept busy. This is not always possible, especially when we are not at home, but our dog is. Many times we hear from our neighbors that our dog was barking while we were gone and that is the main reason why. We need to make sure that our dogs have plenty to do even what we are not there.
It is dangerous to leave toys with your dog that can be chewed up and choked on. That is why if you are going to leave the toy with your dog, choose one that is virtually indestructible, such as a Kong toy. Many people also fill the Kong with peanut butter or dog treats in order to keep their dog interested in it for longer periods of time.
One other trick that you can do to stop barking dogs is to make sure that your dog is getting plenty of exercise. Most people find that they benefit from the additional exercise as well. A dog that is exercised on a regular basis will be a happier dog will not bark nearly as much. This is because they are working their body and mind on a regular basis.
